Noomadic Mushroom Total

Noomadic Mushroom Total claims to be an effective mushroom supplement that promotes longevity, boosts the immune system, improves brain function and elevates energy levels. It is one of only a few select supplements from Noomadic Herbals, a relatively new company based in Canada that is still earning its reputation. So far, the reviews are positive, but does this manufacturer really know what they’re doing when it comes to claiming their place in the nutritional supplement industry? 

One of the reasons we liked this supplement is because of the purity and dosage of each ingredient it contains. We were pleased to see an ingredient list that is based on science, uses high doses of the active mushroom ingredients and contains no unnecessary extras. The blend includes Lions Mane, Cordyceps, Reishi and Chaga mushroom, and we were impressed that their formula uses 100% fruiting bodies only, unlike most other competing brands.

However, although the complex contains some of the most well-studied and reliable mushrooms, only 5 varieties have been included. And although they included a commendable 100mg of each mushroom, the total doesn’t amount to the scientifically proven optimal levels; a daily dose of 500mg in total is much lower than other brands on the market, and less than half the dose of our number 1 Choice. Additionally, although the ingredients are pure and high quality, there is no addition of a bioavailability enhancer such as BioPerine^® which helps the active ingredients absorb quicker and more efficiently, which will affect the overall effectiveness of this product. All of this leaves us wondering how beneficial this product can be.

We think that overall, Noomadic did a good job in crafting their formula for an effective mushroom complex, especially considering that there are no harmful additives, fillers, binders, or artificial ingredients.

Whole Earth & Sea Super Mushroom

Promoted as a health product to support immunity, energy, cognitive health and stress management, Whole Earth & Sea Super Mushroom is the third supplement on our list. It is part of a premium line of products from Natural Factors, an award-winning and well-established Canadian company harvesting organic crops for almost a quarter-century.

The big difference with this product, as with all of the supplements from Whole Earth & Sea, is that it’s marketed as a “whole-food” supplement. They use their own proprietary technology to infuse each supplement with concentrated, raw nutritional products. Their goal is to create formulas that are from food sources whenever possible and to keep processing to a minimum. Their plants are 100% organic from non-GMO seeds, they don’t use pesticides and their harvests are sustainable.

This is all well and good, and certainly adds extra nutrients to the formula, but while we appreciate that, we believe that it comes at the expense of the overall product. Is this enriched formula actually effective? With only 300mg of six mushroom ingredients per serving, Whole Earth & Sea has manufactured a product that contains less than half the dose of our Editor’s Choice. We feel that this mushroom supplement would be more effective if the manufacturer had added more of the essential mushrooms and in higher quantities. 

When reviewing this product, we were pleased to note a price tag that suggests quality, and a convenient choice of either 30 or 60 capsule servings. However, unlike our #1 product, the company doesn’t offer an option to buy in package deals so they can’t compete with any great savings options.
